Kelly Ripa Reveals the Item of Clothing She Won't Wear 'At This Age', Despite Daughter Lola Encouraging Her to Dress Sexier

The Live with Kelly and Mark host, 53, is happy to sit back and be styled by Lola, who's pursuing her singing career in London, as she selects coordinated, school-girl-chic inspired ensembles for both to wear.

“You always have a touch of business in your outfits, but in a very beautiful and authentic way to you,” Lola, 23, tells her mom as she flips through the racks — before selecting a mini for mom to wear

Though Ripa says she prefers a “longer skirt,” she dutifully dons the mini one, while Lola starts adding accessories to their finished looks — including the diamond Jennifer Fisher choker Ripa wore to the 2024 Academy Awards.

Sure, Lola might inherit the jewels, but she's already got her mom's self-assuredness and good humor, and some great life lessons besides: Lola says Ripa “taught me less is more" when it comes to beauty.

“You can’t apply confidence externally,” Ripa agrees, smiling.

And though confidence is something the two share, these days, even confidence can't convince Ripa to wear certain kinds of clothing — those aforementioned miniskirts included.

"There are so many things that I just can't or won't wear. I'm literally making a list in my head. I really try not to, at this age, [wear miniskirts] — and especially since I spend most of my time sitting in a stool or a desk, I try to wear longer skirts," she says, gesturing at the mini she's wearing on the set. "Today was a special occasion. Lola asked me to put on [the] skirt [she's wearing] and I said, 'I just cannot.' Simply cannot. Past a certain age, you got to know when to hang up your disco shoes!"
